Arkansas Libertarian Party First District Meeting a Success!
| Articles - Local Politics |
There was an excellent turnout at today's First District Meeting in Jonesboro. We had 10 people in attendance from all over the district, including: Jonesboro, Marion, Lake City, DeWitt, and Wynne. We even had the distinct honor of having the Arkansas Libertarian Party State Chair, Gerhard Langguth, in attendance all the way from Russellville.
We discussed many topics, but the main area of focus was ballot access for the party in the 2010 General Election. It will take 10,000 signatures of valid Arkansas registered voters, but we want to gather at least 15,000 signatures to make sure we have enough after they signatures are gone through by the Secretary of State. Other topics of discussion included the AR ONETax proposal, the Gun Rights Amendment proposal as written by the State Chair, , the upcoming Arkansas LibertyFest in Little Rock, and the upcoming National Libertarian Party Convention in St. Louis on Labor Day weekend.
Most exciting of all was that we had three people sign up as dues paying members of the party at the meeting! Thanks guys!
For those of you who took the time out of your Saturday to come, thanks! For those of you who missed the excellent discussion, please try to come to the next meeting!
